Privacy Policy

Effective date: 4 June 2026  ·  Last updated: 4 June 2026

Kovar is built privacy-first. Your child's health information stays on your own devices and in your own private iCloud account. We — the developer — never collect, receive, see, or store it. There are no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party trackers.

Who we are

Kovar is operated by Adrian McGee ("we", "us", "our"), based in Australia. You can reach us at adrianpmcgee@gmail.com.

This policy applies to the Kovar iOS application. It is governed by the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.

The short version

Kovar has no servers of its own and no developer account system. Everything you enter — diary entries, streaks, photos, profiles — is stored on your device and, if you enable iCloud, synced through your personal iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit. We have no access to that data at any time.

What we collect

Nothing. The developer of Kovar does not collect any personal data, health data, usage analytics, or device identifiers. We do not operate a backend that receives your information.

What you store (on your own devices / iCloud)

Within the app, you may enter and keep:

This information lives in your device's local storage and your private iCloud container. It is controlled by you and by Apple's iCloud terms — not by us.

iCloud & CloudKit

If you are signed in to iCloud, Kovar uses Apple's CloudKit to sync your records between your own devices. This data is held in your private CloudKit database and is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. We cannot read it.

Photos & Face ID

Private symptom photos and Grown-up Mode are protected on-device by Face ID / your device passcode. Face ID is handled entirely by iOS — biometric data never leaves your device and is never seen by Kovar or by us.

Third-party services

Kovar uses no third-party analytics, advertising, crash-reporting, or tracking SDKs. The only external service involved is Apple's iCloud/CloudKit, which you already control through your Apple ID.

Children's privacy

Kovar is designed to be set up and managed by a parent or caregiver. Because the app collects no data to us and stores everything in the caregiver's own iCloud, no personal information about a child is ever transmitted to the developer. Kid Mode contains no data entry that leaves the device and no external links.

Your control

Changes to this policy

If a future version of Kovar adds any feature that collects data, we will update this policy and the "Last updated" date before that feature ships, and disclose it in the App Store privacy details.
